Perrier wurde in London geboren, ihre familiären Wurzeln liegen in Ghana und der Dominikanischen Republik. Themen wie kulturelle Identität, Vielfalt und Verortung zu hinterfragen, ist wesentlicher Bestandteil ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit. Ihre Fotografien wurden in vielen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen gezeigt, unter anderem von The Photographers Gallery, London, und Tate Britain, London, sowie im Rahmen der Ausstellung „Africa Remix“ in der Hayward Gallery, London, und im Centre Pompidou, Paris.

2010 waren einige ihrer Arbeiten Teil der Ausstellung „A Useful Dream: African Photography 1960-2010“ in Brüssel. Perrier ist eine Meisterin der Porträtfotografie in situ und findet ihre Modelle häufig auf der Straße sowie in fremder Umgebung. Mit einfachen Mitteln, einer Großformatkamera und einer historischen Kopfstütze, gelingt es ihr, im öffentlichen Raum eine besondere Studiosituation zu schaffen, die vielen in Zeiten digitaler Fotografie nicht mehr vertraut ist. Die dabei entstehenden Fotografien erzählen von der direkten Begegnung zwischen Fotografin und Modell bzw. einer face-to-face-Situation, in der beide über den Kameraapparat für einen Moment miteinander verbunden sind.

Perrier was born in London; her family is from Ghana and the Dominican Republic. An essential part of her artistic work is the notion of cultural identity, diversity and migration. Her photographs were part of many solo and group exhibitions, among others at The Photographers Gallery, London, and Tate Britain, London, as well as in ‘Africa Remix’ at the Hayward Gallery, London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

In 2010, some of her works were part of the exhibition ‘A Useful Dream: African Photography 1960 – 2010’ in Brussels. Perrier is a master of in-situ portrait photography, and she often finds her subjects in the street and in strange environments. By use of simple means – a large format camera and historic headrest – she manages to create a peculiar studio situation within the public space that appears unfamiliar in these times of digital photography. The resulting photos speak of the direct encounter between photographer and model, about a face-to-face situation where the two are briefly connected via the camera.
