Minerva Cuevas’ künstlerische Praxis zeichnet sich durch Aktionen aus, die sich in soziale Strukturen einklinken und ihren Platz sowohl im Museum als auch auf der Straße und im Internet haben. Cuevas setzt eine Vielfalt von Medien ein, darunter Video, Installation und Kommunikationstechnologien. Ihre Arbeiten erforschen das Potenzial alternativer oder informeller ökonomischer, politischer und sozialer Organisationsstrukturen. Darüber hinaus bieten sie spielerische Möglichkeiten subversiver Partizipation in ebensolchen politischen, sozialen oder ökonomischen Systemen.

Seit 1998 vertreibt Minerva Cuevas Produkte für ein besseres Leben über ihre Firma „Mejor Vida Corporation“ (Better Life Corporation). Neben zahlreichen Ausstellungen in Galerien, die sie überwiegend zur Bewerbung ihrer Produkte verwendet, bewegt sich ihre Arbeit vor allem im öffentlichen Raum, dem sie eine fast schon naiv humanistische Kritik entgegenstellt und die unterschiedlichen darin vorkommenden Stimmen nicht ordnet und homogenisiert, sondern ihnen einen Raum gibt. Besonders prägnant zeigt dies eine Aktion, die in dem Stadtteil Lavapiés in Madrid im Jahr 2003 stattfand und für die sich Musikerinnen und Musiker einfanden, um ohne irgendwelche Vorgaben einfach gemeinsam Musik zu machen.

Minerva Cuevas war auf vielen internationalen Ausstellungen vertreten, darunter auf den Biennalen von Liverpool 2010, Berlin 2010, Lyon 2007, São Paulo 2006, Sharjah 2005, Sydney 2004, Istanbul 2003 und in Gruppenausstellungen unter anderem im Centre Pompidou, Paris, im Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, sowie im PS1, New York. Einzelausstellungen waren u.a. zu sehen bei: Whitechapel Art Gallery, London 2010, Van Abbemuseum, Niederlande 2008, Kunsthalle Basel 2007, Secession, Wien 2001.

Minerva Cueva’s artistic practice is characterized by actions that engage in social structures, positioned within the museum, as well as the street and the internet. Cuevas uses a variety of media, such as video, installation and communication technologies. Her works explore the potential of alternative and informal economical, political and social organizational structures. In addition, they offer the possibility of subversive participation in exactly these political, social and economic systems.

Since 1998, Minerva Cueva has been selling products for a better life through her company ‘Mejor Vida Corporation’ (Better Life Corporation). In addition to numerous exhibitions in galleries, generally used by her for the purpose of product evaluation, her works mainly occupy the public space. She confronts this public space with an almost naïve humanist critique, refusing to categorize and homogenize the prevalent voices, but rather giving them a space. This is particularly striking an action that happened in 2003 in Lavapiés, a district of Madrid, where musicians gathered to play together, albeit without any instructions or guidelines whatsoever.
